Great participation at 2016 UKMT Maths Challenge
The UKMT Maths Challenge
Each year, maths students from around the UK compete in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT)Maths Challenge. The challenge is the UK's biggest national mathematics competition with gold, silver or bronze awards for the top performing students, who are also invited to represent the UK in the International Mathematical Olympiad and attend summer maths programmes.
In 2016 the UKMT Maths Challenge took place at Bellerbys College London in November. Fifty-six students participated in the event, marking the highest student participation that Bellerbys College London has presented.
The event kicked started with a welcome reception hosted by Head of Maths, Alp Aslan. The atmosphere was vibrant as students socialised with other students and prepared for the exam.
Following the welcome reception, students sat the UKMT Maths Challenge of 25 intriguing maths questions which had to be answered within an allotted time.
An enjoyable experience
Many students found the UKMT Maths Challenge an ‘enjoyable experience’ and were keen to progress to the next stage.
Results of the 2016 UKMT Maths Challenge to follow. Congratulations to all participating students.
