Secured a place at Imperial College to study Maths
“Chen is one of the most gifted students I have ever taught and I am delighted that he will be studying Maths at Imperial College next year”. This is high praise indeed from Bellerbys London Maths teacher John Mcdarby. John has had some fantastic students over the years, but Chen Chen from China has really stood out. With 3 As and a B in his A Levels that is no surprise.
So, what makes Chen Chen so special? John explains further: “From the very beginning of his A Levels he has stood out as a student of remarkable maturity, intelligence and sheer talent, and I have no doubt that Chen is an exceptional mathematician who will thrive at university. It has been an absolute pleasure to have taught Chen and I wish him all the best for the future!”
Chen, however, is so motivated and ambitious that he is actually a bit dissapointed with his results! “I am very happy about my A level results although it was a pity to get B in Economics”, he says. “The life in Bellerbys was really enjoyable. I made a lot of friends during the period and we worked hard together. The teachers are ready to help all the time”.
The teachers themselves say it was easy to help someone as hardworking and as nice as Chen. Economics teacher Rene Bradford has only fond memories of a student she calls “Einstein”! She says that she will remember Chen as being, “intelligent, dilligent, quiet and a perfect role model to every student”. And this is not only in the classroom either. Chen also found the time and energy to get involved in extra-curricular activities and was part of the Graduation Ball Committee and the charity fundraising team. He helped to raise a lot of money for our charities and to put on a fantastic Graduation Ball event.
We are of course sorry to see Chen leave, but life has to move on and he certainly has some great experiences to look forward to. How does he feel about this new step? “Turning to the university, I am looking forward it”, he says. “I am going to study Mathematics in Imperial, which is one of the top universities in the world and Mathematics is great fun for me. I believe I will have a nice time in Imperial”.
