A Level success at Bellerbys Oxford
The members of the A Level class of 2010 at Bellerbys College Oxford (pictured) have just received their final grades and we are delighted with their achievements. Nearly all of the students have now received confirmation of their places at their first choice universities.
This is the first year that the examination boards have awarded the coveted A* grade. 77% of the total number of grades achieved here in Oxford were A* or A grades: 36% were A* and 41* grade A.
97% of the students' final grades were A*- C and we are extremely proud of them. This is a stunning achievement for international students.
In particular we want to mention the following students who have gained straight A or A*grades in all of their subjects:
Tu Anh DAO NGOC from Vietnam achieved grades of A*A*A*aa in Chemistry, Maths, Physics, Further Maths and Accounting. She has a place to read Chemistry at Imperial College London.
Quyn Anh PHAM LE, also from Vietnam, gained A*A*A*A in Economics, French, Politics and Maths and will be studying International Relations at the London School of Economics.
Russian student Galina MOGILEVTSEVA achieved grades A*A*A*Aa in Maths, Psychology, Russian, Economics and Accounting. She has a place at University College London where she will be studying Statistics & Economics with French.
Romas SOSTAKAS from Lithuania achieved grade A in each of his subjects – Accounting, Economics, Maths and Politics. These grades have confirmed Romas’s place at Nottingham University to study Economics.
Panich KASAMEPAIBOON gained A*AA in Accounting, Economics and Maths in a mere five terms. He will be joining Warwick University to study Accounting & Finance.
Congratulations to all of our students! We will miss them and wish them every success in the future.
A Level & GCSE Class of 2010 Graduate from Bellerbys Oxford
The end of an era has come for the class of 2010. This is the time of year that we sadly wave goodbye and wish good luck to another group of students who are moving on to the next stage of their academic life.
To celebrate the occasion and our students’ achievements, a group of staff, students and parents attended a graduation ceremony on Wednesday 16th June in St Columba’s Hall, Oxford. It was a very happy and festive occasion with presentations of awards and certificates, followed by delicious strawberries and fruit punch.
Achievement awards for outstanding academic work at A Level were given to Tu Anh Dao Ngoc, Panich Kasamepaiboon, Galina Mogilevtseva, Quynh Anh Pham Le, Xinglin Yang and Romualdas Sostakas.
Romualdas, known to all of us as Romas, was awarded Student of the Year (pictured right, centre, with cup). Romas contributed an immense amount to the life of the school: he founded the basketball club, helped to run the debating society, helped countless students and teachers in many ways with real warmth and energy. A real asset to Bellerbys Oxford!
Erik Golikov (pictured right, bottom, with Programme Manager, Yasmin Hurrell) was the Bellerbys Oxford candidate for the Richard Ryde scholarship this year.
There were also awards recognising their special Effort & Progress for Amina Khalibekova, Chii Shuh Tang and Alina Terskykh.
Two GCSE students also received well deserved awards: Chuanle Dou for Academic Achievement and Shui Nong Xu for Effort & Progress.
This is also a special year as these students will be the last to study at Boswell House. From September 2010 Bellerbys College Oxford will move to a brand new, purpose-built building, just across the city.
Congratulations to the Oxford class of 2010!
Venice Theme for Oxford's May Ball
Staff and students at Bellerbys Oxford recently held their May Ball at the beautiful Halkwell House Hotel. This year the college choose a period Venice-theme for the event.
Fabio Da Silva Moore, the Social Programme and Extra Curricular Activities Organiser was one of the main organisers and writes: "Finally, after a lot of hard work and effort from myself and the May Ball committee, we managed to organize a fantastic event. There were beautiful decorations, posters of Venice, mask decorating activities and even a gondola!"
The ball was a great success event and all the students and staff members were able to enjoy a great night dancing and singing. The success and positive feedback about the event has given the comittee even more incentive to make next year's Ball even better!

Students & Staff at Bellerbys Oxford Dress Up for Charity
Accomodation Officer at Oxford, Agnieska Kaleka, (perhaps our most active fund-raiser, pictured in yellow) would like to say a big 'thank you' to all of you who took part in the last Traffic Light Day at Bellerbys Oxford. The idea is simple - wear red, green or orange/yellow clothes for a day around college, and try to collect donations for the charity.
As usual we took some funny pictures and raised £42.83 which will be doubled by Study Group so the final amount is: £85.66 - Congratulations everyone!! This money will go our chosen charity 'Building Futures' which builds schools in developing countries.

Congratulations to Bellerbys Oxford Badminton Champion
'Congratulations' to Panich Kasamepaiboon, a second year A Level student at Bellerbys Oxford. Along with a friend, he recently won a local mens' doubles badminton championship whilst he was in his hometown of Danchange, Thailand during the holidays.
Panich, formerly a GCSE student at Bellerbys Oxford, acheived amazing grades in his exams (A*AAAAB) before going on to study A Levels in Maths, Economics and Accounting at the college. He is also the president of the newly founded Badminton Club at Bellerbys Oxford and has played in many tournaments throughout the city.

Bellerbys Oxford Graduation Ceremony 2008
Oxford staff and students gathered recently at the 2008 Bellerbys Graduation ceremony to receive acknowledgement of completion of their courses - and also to award outstanding performance.
Each year we like to take the chance to say well done to students who have persevered to
the end, and also to praise examples of achievement - there are always students who
deserve a special mention.
This year Dar'ya Pluzhynk (pictured holding cup) won the Student of the Year award for outstanding service to the school. Dar'ya started the student newspaper and took a very active part in the college social programme. Dien Linh Do (pictured with Principal, Julia Southby) was chosen as the Oxford candidate for this years Richard Ryde Scholarship. She was selected from all our AS students as the most outstanding academically, as well as having many extra-curricular interests.
Other students who received special awards include:
A Level students: Sergey Badikov from Russia, Tope Balogun from Nigeria, Angel Belichenov from Bulgaria, Charmmy Lio from Macau, Alan Lio from Macau, Sheila Nur Ibrahim Masilamani from Malaysia, Kitty Shi from China and Irina Savvinova from Russia
Foundation students: Eric Ma from China, Thomas Loi from Macau, Valeria Kozlovskaja from Estonia, Emily Tong from Hong Kong, Pa Ousman Jabang from Gambia and Sarvin Shamsbod from Iran.
Afterwards, everyone had strawberries and cream and a glass of make believe Bucks Fizz
and had our photos taken in the warm sunshine. It was a fitting end to a hard year of study. Now the students will leave us and progress to universities - big fish into an even bigger pool - we wish them well.
Erik Karabayez(左图),被授予年度学生奖。
