Helen McGowan

I organise and manage the social activities for the school.  I’m in charge of the trips to London and other places in the UK.  I also organise activities within Oxford, like punting and ice-skating.  I make sure all our students have a really great time here!

I am originally from Northern Ireland but I came to Oxford in 2004 to study at Oxford University and I’ve never left.  When I finished my degree, I went travelling to Australia.  I lived in a van for 4 months and drove 15,000 km around the country.  It was amazing and I met many interesting people.  Oxford is my home now.  I live in a very small flat and spend a lot of time learning how to cook, with mixed success!  When I’m not cooking I like to play on the Nintendo Wii and go for walks in the park.   I love being the Social Programme Organiser because I really get to know all our students and I have lots of fun at work!

You must make the most of every minute in Oxford - there are many interesting museums and beautiful parks.  When you add to this the cinemas, ice-rink, the bowling alley and all the sports facilities, you’ll never be stuck for something to do.
