Studying Engineering Foundation
"In my country we have a large resource of crude oil, which requires refining and recycling. Therefore, in order to obtain a degree in Chemical Engineering, to contribute to my country, I have chosen to do a Foundation Course in Chemical Engineering so that I will be able to apply to one of the British universities. The course is a very interesting and challenging course covering all the basic principles that I would need in order to pursue a degree in chemical engineering at university.
My parents had been looking for a good school in England and they finally found Bellerbys College. At first I was afraid of coming abroad alone. Fortunately, I met many Kazakh friends who were in the same situation. Spending time with them helped me cope with this. I like studying here at Bellerbys Cambridge because the teachers and other administrative staff are very helpful, caring and friendly. The campus is also compact and complete. The classes are also excellent and I find myself understanding the subjects more clearly here.
Currently, I am living in Manor student residence. My two months here have been wonderful and I have been enjoying every minute of it. I have made a lot of friends and I am always spending time with them, be it for studying or just for fun. The room is just the right size and everything is easily accessible. With the common room just downstairs, I get to watch football on weekends and play pool with my friends.
Cambridge is an amazing place to be for students mainly because it is a very student orientated city and a very beautiful one. Everything is nearby and either just a bus ride or a 15 minute walk away. I enjoy being in Cambridge because there is a lot for me to do as a “tourist” as well as a student. I also like it here in the UK because people are very friendly and are willing to help no matter where or when.
Since my arrival in Cambridge, I have made lots of friends of many different nationalities. Learning about all their different cultures and traditions has truly been inspiring and has taught me that the world is indeed a beautiful place. The college always organizes field trips which gives me the opportunity to take part in other activities instead of constantly “working hard”."
