Peter Benson

"There can't be a better job than interacting with young people, particularly people of other cultures and exchanging ideas about the world.  My passions have always been travel, languages and learning about other cultures.  Teaching English as a Foreign Language has enabled me to teach all around the world and pursue my interests.

By 1996 I had lived in many different countries. I was back in England after a year in China and I was wondering which country to go to next, when the job at Bellerbys in Cambridge came up.  I thought I would stay about a year or two, but after 10 years I am still here.

I both teach and administer the English Language Preparation courses. My aim is to prepare the students as best I can so that they can benefit in everyway from their future studies in Britain.  Bellerbys is special because of the individual care for the students, the desire to make them at home in the UK and to help them achieve what they desire.

I have two big interests in life: football and music. I support Manchester United and the football team of my birthtown: Barnsley.  My music interests are very diverse: I love Jazz, Classical Music and various contemporary genres of music.  I love cycling as a hobby and sometimes with my wife I cycle quite a distance. For the last two years we have been on cycling holidays in France in June.

Cambridge is the perfect city as it's not too big and not too small.  It's not too old and not too new.  It's not too quiet and not too busy.  It's not too far from London but nor is it too close.  In fact it's got the best of all worlds."
