"We have a team of dedicated teachers and people who have worked with students for many years, who are therefore alert to issues that can worry or affect students while studying away from home.  Support staff around the college also pick up on potential concerns and will advise so that we can address possible problems.  Students get different levels of support depending on the need and age.  Each situation and student will be treated to suit the individual.  Everyone has the students' best interest at heart.  We have to work together to get the best out of and for each student.

I find it useful teaching the Pre-GCSE students once a week as it gives me a chance to get to know this group well and to be sure that if they need someone to talk to they can.  When you first arrive and are young, it is all very different and it can be very intimidating, so a bit of security and stability is an essential start to the course.  I also enjoy having a tutor group as, similarly, I get to know these students particularly well, and it helps me to learn what we can do to help overall.

All in all I am very lucky to do a job that I enjoy so much, every day is different and it can be very rewarding.  I learn something new almost daily, am never bored and always busy.  Time flies."
