Tu Ang Dao Ngoc
Tu Ang Dao Ngoc from Vietnam
Studied A Levels at Bellerbys Oxford
Grades achieved: A*A*A*aa
Secured an offer from Imperial College London to read Chemistry
Tu Anh is a modest but brilliant student. She has achieved some of the best Science grades since Bellerbys Oxford began. She has applied herself quietly but effectively over the past two years, gaining top scores in many of her AS and A2 modules, including six papers for which she was awarded 100%.
Her Chemistry teacher, Dr Felix Küllchen has commented “It has been an absolute pleasure teaching Tu Anh Chemistry. She has a natural aptitude for the subject, together with a very sharp mind and a determination to work hard at her studies. Tu Anh thoroughly deserved her excellent grades in this summer’s Chemistry examinations, and I have every confidence that she will continue to shine both at university and beyond. Tu Anh has what it takes to become a successful chemist. I wish her all the very best for the future.”
Tu Anh’s Maths teachers speak of her natural aptitude for Maths, her incisive mind and meticulous attention to detail. Dan Hemmens, her Physics teacher, has always recognised her exceptional ability and predicted long ago that she would go far.
A Level Programme Manager, Yasmin Hurrell adds: “Tu Anh is an exceptionally bright student who has worked hard throughout the course to achieve the very best in all of her subjects. She consistently sets herself very high standards, is extremely motivated and has developed excellent independent study skills which will stand her in very good stead at university.”
Asked why she chose Bellerby College for her studies, Tu Anh said, "My cousins* chose Bellerbys College to study their A Levels and because of the nice things it offers I also decided to choose the college to be the place to start my new life in the UK.
Teachers in Bellerbys College are really supportive and they show great enthusiasm. They have always answered my questions, provided me with extra information and moreover inspired my passion towards my dream of becoming an environmentalist. I could not thank them enough for what they have done to ensure my good grades. Being a student in an international college, I have made many international friends during my course of study. Exchanging cultural information with them has enriched my life."
We wish Tu Anh all the very best for the future and have confidence that she will continue to shine at Imperial College. We are all very proud of her achievements and will miss her calm and gentle presence.
*Tu Anh's cousins are Trang Nguyen, who went to Cambridge University, and Giang Nguyen who went to UCL following Bellerbys. Like Tu Anh, both were outstanding students.
