Wendy Brown, Student Services Manager
"I have worked at Bellerbys Oxford since the end of December 2006 when the college was winding down for the Christmas break. Christmas in Oxford is a very special time, the city centre is decorated with bright sparkly festive lights and there are carol singers around every corner. Everyone at the school was very welcoming to me and I soon felt part of the Bellerbys family.
My role within the College is to manage the Student Services team. I also deal very closely with the student body; offering help and advice on visa issues, financial problems and course extensions. I am often the first person that most students at Bellerbys College meet as I am heavily involved in the organisation of their first day. It is a wonderful experience seeing the students' confidence grow day by day, making new friends and friendship bonds that will hopefully last a lifetime.
Recently I have taken on the role of fundraiser for our corporate charity ‘Building Futures', in partnership with Plan International. This is a charity which helps to build and stock schools in developing countries. For this current year we are planning to raise money by having an international food party where everyone can bring along their national dish to share with students and staff alike.
Outside of my working life I am a keen cyclist, film critic, and lifetime yoga practitioner (although I’m still a bit wobbly on some of the balances!). Some of my favourite things in Oxford to do are punting, walking by the river, visiting the local cafes and bars, and supporting local bands. Oxford is a beautiful city and it is my continued pleasure to work alongside such wonderful, diverse, warm and interesting staff and students who make my working day a delight."
