Jackie Eadie

"I am in charge of the Foundation programme and really enjoy my job because I love working closely with our students. 

I used to teach English abroad and have marvellous memories of living in Mexico, Korea, Spain, the Soviet Union, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.  I miss those exotic places a great deal, but it is my great fortune that the Bellerbys students now bring the world back to me right here in Oxford. 

It is also an opportunity for me to pass on some of the kindness I received as a foreigner adapting to a new language and culture; I believe my experiences help me to give plenty of understanding and support to our students.

I have a lot of interests, though not enough time to do justice to them, unfortunately.  I try to keep my foreign languages alive by reading but I am losing the battle, I fear!  I am a passionate reader of history, science fiction, mystery….and whatever book falls into my hands really. 

I love gardening, even though I seem to kill more plants than I grow.  I also adore Art and Design from the early 20th century and use those ideas to inspire my hobbies of drawing, designing and making small items through needlework and knitting. 

Oh dear, this all makes me seem rather old-fashioned, but in actual fact students tell me that their impression of me is that I am young at heart - always smiling and laughing."
