Law and International Relations Foundation Course
The Bellerbys Law Foundation course is ideal for students wishing to study Law-related degrees at university, including International Relations, Politics and Law courses. The course is carefully designed to focus on the academic areas most useful to your future study intentions.
Academic Structure
You will study core subjects, with all other Foundation students, plus the appropriate modules.
Politics 1
The focus of this module will be on definitions and concepts. Students will study British politics and learn about Parliament, the structure of government and the main offices of state, including that of Prime Minister.
Politics 2
Global political institutions and modern global politics. During the term, students will work on two extended coursework essays related to two major topics covered.
Politics 3
This module will cover Modern British Politics with a particular emphasis on political parties and pressure groups.
Law 1
Students will learn about the nature and sources of law and the concepts underlying legal systems. They will look in detail at the English legal system, considering the different courts and their functions, legal personnel and the legislative process.
Law 2
Students are introduced to the Law of Contract and consider issues related to consumer protection.
Law 3
Students will focus on the Law of Tort and consider the notions of liability and negligence.
