::: Engineering Foundation Course - study Engineering or Computer Science at university in England

Engineering & Computer Science Foundation Course

The Bellerbys Engineering Foundation course is ideal for students wishing to study Engineering and Computer Science related degrees at university including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Telecommunications and Mathematics.

Academic Structure

You will study core subjects, with all other Foundation students, plus Engineering modules.

Pure Maths 1
Students are taught about the use of functions including the modulus and exponential functions; logarithms; series; the equations of lines; solving trigonometric equations; basic differentiation and integration and their applications; data handling including histograms, mean, mode, median and standard deviation

Pure Maths 2
Develops on the Maths in Pure Maths 1. Students are taught further algebra, co-ordinate geometry, trigonometry, differentiation, integration, numerical methods and vectors.

Mechanics 1
Students are taught vectors, forces and equilibrium, relative motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion, friction and work, energy and power.

Mechanics 2
Students are taught further kinematics, circular motion, simple harmonic motion, moments in 2-Dimensions, elasticity and further particle dynamics'.

Properties of Matter and Waves
Students are taught about matter, elasticity, heat, specific & latent gases, Kinetic Theory, radioactivity, fission, fusion, light, sound, interference, diffraction, electromagnetic spectrum, photoelectric effect, energy levels, excitation and ionization.

Electricity and Fields
This module gives students a grounding in important Engineering topics including circuit theory, electromagnetism, and field theory, as well as laboratory skills. The module is designed to provide students with the background necessary to progress to an Engineering or physical Science degree at a UK university.
