Engineering & Computer Science Foundation Course

The Bellerbys Engineering Foundation course is ideal for students wishing to study Engineering and Computer Science related degrees at university including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Telecommunications and Mathematics.

Academic Structure

You will study core subjects, with all other Foundation students, plus Engineering modules.

Pure Maths 1
Students are taught the basics of algebra; differentiation and calculus; and probability and experimental laws.

Pure Maths 2
Students are taught further algebra, co-ordinate geometry, trigonometry, differentiation, integration, numerical methods and vectors.

Mechanics 1
Students are taught vectors, forces and equilibrium, relative motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion, friction and work, energy and power.

Mechanics 2
Students are taught advanced vectors, forces as fixed vectors, centres of gravity/ centres of mass and particle dynamics.

Properties of Matter and Waves
Students are taught sound, reflection, refraction, interference, diffraction, electro-magnetic waves, strengths of solids, fluids, heat and gases and the structure of the atom.

Electricity, Electronics and Fields
Students are taught electrical current and charge, potential difference, resistance, capacitance, transistors and amplifiers, electrical fields, gravitational fields, magnetic fields and electromagnetic fields.
