Study Chemical Engineering at university in the UK

Chemical Engineering (Oil & Gas) Foundation Course

The Chemical Engineering Foundation offers direct progression to Chemical Engineering and oil and gas-related degrees at a large number of Bellerbys partner universities, including the following universities all of whom are ranked among the top 10 university destinations for Chemical Engineering:

University of Birmingham; University of Manchester; University of Newcastle; University of Nottingham; University of Sheffield.

You can choose to study the Chemical Engineering Foundation course at Bellerbys College Brighton, CambridgeLondon or Oxford and start the course in January or September.

Academic Structure

Students will study core subjects, with all other Foundation students, plus:

Pure Maths 1
Functions including the modulus and exponential functions; logarithms; series; the equations of lines; solving trigonometric equations; basic differentiation and integration and their applications; data handling including histograms, mean, mode, median and standard deviation.

Pure Maths 2
Develops the mathematics studied in Pure Maths 1 and covers further algebra, co-ordinate geometry, trigonometry, differentiation, integration, numerical methods and vectors.

Mechanics 1
Vectors, forces and equilibrium, relative motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion, friction and work, energy and power.

Mechanics 2
Further Kinematics, Circular Motion, Simple Harmonic Motion, Moments in 2-Dimensions, Elasticity and Further Particle Dynamics.

Core Principles of Chemistry
Study and apply formulae, equations and moles, atomic structure, redox systems, thermodynamics and bonding.
