Masters Qualifying Programme (MQP) Your bridge to a Masters in business

Masters Qualifying Programme students
Once you have successfully completed your studies you are guaranteed entry to one of the several British universities that recognise the programme

This unique course is ideal if you have a Junior College Diploma in a business-related subject or an undergraduate degree in a non-business subject and want to go on to an MBA or Business Masters. It will give a thorough grounding in key business subjects, and is your bridge to a Masters programme. Once you have successfully completed your studies you are guaranteed entry to one of the several British universities which recognise the programme.

  • Age: Students are normally 21 or over
  • Course length: 1 term (can be combined with one or two terms of Pre-Masters as required)
  • Start dates: April, Jun – see term dates
  • Entry requirements: A Junior College Diploma or Higher National Diploma and three year’s work experience for MBA and IELTS 6.5 or equivalent for the 1 term course See entry requirements tab for more information and requirements for additional one or two terms Pre-Masters study. If you do not meet these requirements you can first study English Language Preparation (ELPP).
  • Fees: £4,610 GBP per term. Visit our fees page for other costs and to calculate your fees.

The MQP programme consists of one or two terms of English preparation and academic studies in business areas such as Accounting, Information Technology and Marketing. You will study for 22-25 hours per week including personal tutor guidance plus five additional hours of optional GMAT training if required. (GMAT training is charged separately).

You will also have time to become accustomed to UK culture and the UK environment. This means you can concentrate on your Masters without the added complication of cultural readjustment.

Your student counsellors will help you choose and apply for the right postgraduate course and university for you. The universities will review your application on a case-by-case basis and progression is not guaranteed.

Academic entry requirements

To study the Masters Qualifying Programme you will need one of the following:

  • A Junior College Diploma (equivalent to three years'full-time study) in a business-related subject achieved by either full-time or part-time education
  • Three years' work experience for MBA non-business related Bachelors or business-related bachelors with a low GPA or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business

English language requirements: 1 term Pre-Masters + 1 term MQP

You will need to demonstrate an English language level equivalent to the following:

  •  IELTS 5.5
  • TOEFL 513 (computer test equivalent 183)
  • Pearson Test of English Academic 48-51

English language requirements: 2 term Pre-Masters + 1 term MQP

You will need to demonstrate an English language level equivalent to the following:

  • IELTS 4.5 TOEFL 477 (computer test equivalent 153)
  • Pearson Test of English Academic 40-43

Depending on the type of visa you are entering the UK on you may take the Study Group English Test to determine your English language level.

English Language Preparation Programme (ELPP)

If you do not meet the English language requirements for entry to the 2 term Pre-Masters you can study one, two or three terms of English Language Preparation prior to the start of your academic programme.

The length of your English Language Preparation Programme will depend on your current English language level. The following is a guideline only:

The Bellerbys English Language Preparation Programme is a fast, personalised and highly effective programme that will fully equip you to succeed in your studies. The programme comprises 25 hours per week of general English, examination preparation and skills classes. Throughout the programme you will be closely monitored by a personal tutor and tested regularly to ensure you reach the English language level required for your academic programme.
