The Bellerbys Foundation programme is an intensive one-year course that can lead to degree study at a choice of over 70 UK universities.

How the Bellerbys Foundation programme works

  • Courses begin in January, April*, September and November
  • Each programme is based on the A Level syllabus and is accredited by Lancaster University, ranked in the UK top 10 by Guardian University Guide 2016
  • You will learn relevant academic knowledge through subject-specific modules. You will also receive English language tuition and learn the study skills you will need at university

Who is the Bellerbys Foundation programme for?

Whether you are looking for a career as an engineer, lawyer, entrepreneur, graphic designer or pharmacist, there's a Foundation programme that will prepare you for a relevant degree.

Each Bellerbys college specialises in a different subject area, and provides an enrichment programme to help you gain real-world experience of your chosen subject.

Each of our four colleges offers specialist tuition and guidance to help you make a confident transition to university life and study.

  • Brighton is our largest college and offers the widest choice of subjects

Capitalised words are defined below.

In 2015, 694 students who studied a Foundation Programme progressed to a Course of Study at a UK university of which 554 progressed to a Course of Study at a university ranked overall or by course in the top 30 by The Times or The Guardian 2016 league tables at the time.


If you are a Qualifying Student and you do not receive an offer of a Course of Study at a UK university, we will refund all Tuition Fees paid by you for your Foundation Programme.


If you are a Top 30 Qualifying Student and you do not receive an offer of a Course of Study at a UK university ranked overall or by course in the top 30 by The Times or The Guardian league tables at the time of offer, we will refund all Tuition Fees paid by you for your Foundation Programme.


Application for a refund must be made in writing to the appropriate Bellerbys College Principal no later than 31 December 2017 for assessment after which this offer expires. This must include a copy of the UCAS offers received. 



Definitions:


“Course of Study” means any course of study at undergraduate level, excluding those in medicine or dentistry, at a UK university which shall include any international year one programme.

“Foundation Programme” means any Foundation programme course of study at Bellerbys Colleges as listed at bellerbys.com/courses/Foundation.

“Qualifying Student” means a student who completes a Foundation Programme and:

  • enrols on a Foundation Programme at the start of the 2016/2017 academic year 

  • achieves at least 40% in all Foundation Programme examinations

  • achieves an IELTS level of at least 6.0 in all band requirements at completion of the Foundation Programme 

  • completes and submits a UCAS application via Bellerbys College ensuring that university choices are in line with guidance from Bellerbys College based on academic performance and tutor recommendation and

  • is eligible to study a Course of Study in the UK.

“Top 30 Qualifying Student” means a student who completes a Foundation Programme and:

  • enrols on a Foundation Programme at the start of the 2016/2017 academic year 
  • achieves at least 70% in all Foundation Programme examinations
  • achieves an IELTS level of at least 6.5 in all band requirements at completion of the Foundation Programme 
  • completes and submits a UCAS application via Bellerbys College ensuring that university choices are in line with guidance from Bellerbys College based on academic performance and tutor recommendation and contain at least two universities in the top 30 ranked by The Times or The Guardian League tables at the time and
  • is eligible to study a Course of Study in the UK.

“Tuition Fees” means the fees paid for the Foundation Programme excluding any ancillary costs including but not limited to fees for additional costs and services, accommodation and living costs and visa fees.

English Language Preparation

If you don't meet the English language requirements for one of our Foundation courses, you can choose to study the The Bellerbys English Language Preparation Programme (ELPP) for between one and three terms before starting your Foundation programme.

The ELPP is a fast-paced and personalised course. It will help you to develop:

  • Your English reading, writing, listening and speaking confidence
  • The study skills you will need at university

3.5 Term - November start Foundation programme

This course will provide you with extra support to achieve your best, including:

  • Extra English classes as required
  • University guidance including university visits, UCAS applications
  • Study skills including research and presentation techniques, essay writing and more
  • Personal development and soft skills development including team work, critical thinking, debate and confidence building
  • Students starting the 3.5 term programme in November will start their Foundation programme beginning January

Extended Foundation

The Extended Foundation is a four-term academic programme. The extra term is designed for students who need additional guidance before they start the three-term Foundation.

If you need to increase your academic skills or English level before starting the three-term Foundation, this is a good option for you. This programme is offered at our Brighton and London Colleges.

Following successful completion of the English, Mathematics, Business Studies (and General Science in Brighton) modules in term one, and achievement of the required English entry level, you will progress to study a set of core subjects alongside one of the mainstream Foundation pathways.
