international friends in the UK

My name is Abbe and I was born in Malaysia and raised in Australia. My multicultural background has enabled me to adapt around the world easily and to interact with different people, not to mention their fascinating cultures. This is one of the reasons why I came to the UK. Knowing that there’s still half of the world I haven’t explored, I chose to come to London, a city that is known for its beautiful buildings and diversity. I chose Bellerbys College where different people have come together and integrated to form a lively atmosphere.

My curiosity of why students (apart from me) choose to come to study at Bellerbys has led me to interview them. This afternoon, as I was having lunch at a coffee shop opposite the college, I approached a few of my friends asking why they are here. Their response was that the UK has the best education system, the quality of its education is recognised worldwide and this would help their careers in the future.

Bava, Singapore – I like the UK for its diversity and liberty. When I think about the UK I think about Law, this is because the UK has many good universities for studying law that can be practised across the globe.

Ale, Mexico – The UK and Bellerbys College is a great place to improve my English. The people here are polite and there are so many beautiful places to visit here in London.

Alina and Diana, Ukraine – The UK offers a greater variety of subjects and it is a great place to improve our English.

The UK is becoming one of the safest places to live and the transportation here operates conveniently.  The UK is a great place to live and study abroad.

There are so many places/countries one can choose from, so why come to study in the UK? For me it is as simple as this: The UK has it all - cultural diversity, open-mindedness, good means of transport that take you to anywhere you may need/fancy, food from all over the world and so on.  So, if you like new challenges you will feel at home here. It is almost certain that you will find people from your country too.

Here international students are more than welcome and are not treated as strangers or tourists, you feel respected and that is one of the reasons why I like being here so much. Secondly, due to its good reputation abroad, one knows that career prospects here are extremely good and much broader than in most other countries than in most other countries. Thirdly, there are great universities all over the country which offer a great variety of courses: you can enrol on courses such as economics but you can also find the best courses in very specific and “unusual” courses such as Viking Studies or Puppetry!?

There is just one minor setback: the weather. Who has not heard about the “famous” British weather? Nevertheless, you only feel it when you are outside. The UK is a lovely place to study and it gives international students the competetive edge. It has so many things to see, that even if you lived here all your life you would probably never get to see it all. There are many great museums to visit, lots of parks and (a girl’s favourite hobby) shopping! What else can I say? I’ve been in the UK for over a year and it I’m madly in love with London but I’ve also had the chance to visit other places like Cambridge, Brighton, and Oxford… and liked them all as well! So, after reading all this I bet you’ve made up your mind, right? What are you waiting for? Join us on the great experience that is studying at Bellerbys and I’m sure you’ll like it as much as me.

See you around
