The forum opened with an introduction to investment banking, working as an investment banker, the particular benefits and challenges that a banking professional will face.
Priya from Goldman gave an example of how investment management work is based around project management skills and how effective time management helps complete tasks on time.
Chantal, also from Goldman, discussed the process of psychometric testing, a method used by recruiters to measure personality type. Bellerbys London A Level student Husna was intrigued as to why psychometric testing was so popular and Chantal explained that it provides businesses with an insight into how well a candidate would work with others and their ability to deal with challenging situations.
Economics student Natalie Hoang felt that the session gave a wealth of information about investment banking careers and that it was a valuable opportunity to put questions to financial professionals in person. By the end of the session she felt more confident and knowledgeable about the investment banking profession and was happy to receive some tips on pursuing a career in finance.
