Being an overseas student means you are aware of your English language skills as soon as you step off the plane in the United Kingdom. I know this from my own experience, having been in England for nearly two years, and from talking to people who sit next to me during flights.I have noticed that although that there are some who are rather fluent in English - many people still smile nervously and admit that they fear their English is not good enough to understand their teachers’ words in class. After taking different flights and meeting different people who hold the same fears, I realised perhaps an English preparation course is exactly what they need, and Bellerbys College offers just that.

After taking different flights and meeting different people who hold the same fears, I realised perhaps an English preparation course is exactly what they need, and Bellerbys College offers just that.

English Language Preparation Programme

The English Language Preparation Programme (ELPP) is a highly intensive English course offered in all Bellerbys centres. Its main focus is to help students improve their English skills in both everyday communication and academic English as they are both key factors in determining your success within the UK education.

The ELPP is very flexibile, students can study for 1 to 3 terms and can join the programme in January, February, April, June or September, - giving students a lot of choice so theyc an fit their programme into their schedule.

From what I have observed in college, ELPP classes are a lot of fun.Students and teachers often come together to have presentations, or watch an educational video that someone finds helpful and wants to share it with the whole class. I have also heard a lot of laughter too, and the overall atmosphere of ELPP classes is very relaxed and happy. However, we must not forget that ELPP is still a highly intensive English language course, and thus students take it very seriously. There have been a great number of times when I have had to quieten my footsteps as I walk past ELPP classes, because everyone is focusing very hard on their papers and I do not want to disturb them.

ELPP is a fantastic programme for anyone who wishes to generally boost their English skills to prepare for advancing to GCSE, A-Level or Foundation courses.

The IELTS express course

If you are looking forward to studying at a UK university, chances are, you are also worrying about your IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test. Although it varies from school to school, top UK universities usually require an IELTS score of at least 6.0 in all components (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing). If your IELTS score does not mean your desired university requirement, IELTS express at Bellerbys College might be the right choice for you.

Bellerbys’ IELTS Express is a highly  intensive English Course which runs for 6 weeks and each week you will learn across all IELTS components.

Differing from ELPP, IELTS Express focuses on teaching you the necessary skills to succeed in an IELTS test. IELTS exams can be demanding and stressful, but with Bellerbys’ help with careful preparation, a lot of students have been able to improve their IELTS score by 0.5 to 1 point. With high quality teaching, IELTS students will receive the best helpful feedback from teachers after each assignment. Better yet, across the whole course, students are allowed to keep track of their own progress with their teachers’ close attention, helping them to know which component they should focus on more, and see how much they have achieved since the beginning of the course. At the end of the course, IELTS students will take a mock IELTS exam, in which they do an unofficial IELTS test under real test conditions, so they can become accustomed to the procedures of the test as well as the pressure that comes with it.

In short, IELTS Express is a very useful programme for prospective students of top universities in the UK, and is available at Bellerbys College as a precursor to any of their academic programmes.
