Extra-curricular activities are about just as important as one’s normal academic routine. In fact the demand for extra-curricular activities has significantly increased as universities openly express their keen interest in this aspect regarding university entries and UCAS applications. Extra- curricular activities however should be things you enjoy.

At Bellerbys College, there is a wide range of extra-curricular activities to choose from. There are the indoor activities such as  table tennis, judo, boxing, badminton and various forms of dance including street dancing. As well as these you will find a range of  outdoor sports you’ll be familiar with such as football,  lawn tennis, horse riding and so much more. If you’re into music then in all four Bellerbys international schools, there are all sorts of music clubs and lessons for instruments such as guitar, drums, piano and even singing activities. If you are more interested in keeping fit then our very popular Zumba or yoga classes may be interesting to you. So I’m guessing you all know what this means! There’s something for everyone. Yay!

During your induction week at Bellerbys College, an information pack is given to new students , which among other things, contains a fascinating list of extra-curricular activities available. Now in my second year at Bellerbys, I can still vividly remember the excitement at the list of all the activities I saw which were available to new students. Well, this is indeed one of the advantages of studying abroad in an international college. For me, having previously schooled in a typical boarding facility where sporting activities were slightly restricted, this surely was a release!

As a new student, just in case you’ve missed your induction  or you’ve  flown in a couple of weeks late  , don’t panic or feel sad!. You will be given the same information as everyone else. In all the Bellerbys College locations there are notice boards in very strategic locations so it’s impossible not to see it anyways! Staff at the very friendly Student Services are always there to regularly email students about any extra-curricular activities and help you find out what is on offer.

It is also in the college’s tradition to host events for students such as the Halloween Party , the International Day which is very exciting as students get to showcase and represent their cultures and national identities. There’s also the Christmas concert and the college carnival which is another exciting event as well as the May Ball to ceremoniously mark the end of a very rigorous term, just before the final exams.

Now you can see one thing with all these, Bellerbys College has just about everything. It’s left to you now to decide what activities you want to participate in within your spare time. Bear in mind there are  many advantages to this besides for one’s UCAS application. There’s obviously the fitness aspect then there’s the socialising factor and team work too. My advice to you new students is: Get Involved!!!
