I have never once regretted my decision to study in Bellerbys, especially in my beloved Bellerbys College in Oxford. As an international student who  has never lived  far away from the security of my family, there are days when the world seems to be resting heavily on my shoulders. Nevertheless, as soon as I step inside the college, the warm and welcoming atmosphere brought about by the enthusiastic staff, teachers and students quickly make it better. In Bellerbys, I find a place I can feel comfortable and enjoy being in and it makes the whole experience of studying abroad less scary.

As well as academic support, Bellerbys truly thrives when it comes to teaching. Putting the excellent academic achievements aside, the way Bellerbys’teachers passionately engage with their students make lessons so much more interesting, and definitely much easier to understand and remember. For me, as I take two essay-based subjects that are Sociology and Psychology, I sometimes find it rather difficult to work my way through all the dense and detailed knowledge that an A-Level student is required to be able to understand fully. However, with a dynamic style of teaching, my lovely teachers always let me and my classmates discuss every problem that we come across in our studying and provide us with sound and established explanations for our inquiries. This allows us to grasp an understanding for the topic in much more depth, rather than just reading the textbooks alone. The teachers also encourage us to take on fun and relaxing group activities after long hours of learning new information, which I find very nice because they are sensitive about students’ needs.

Also, our tutors provide us with information about extra-curricular activities, both inside and outside of school, for us to have a chance to develop our skills. I personally take part in Bellerbys College Oxford’s debate club as well as the Model United Nations club. Both allow me to build my confidence, public speaking and critical thinking skills which will definitely be beneficial for me in the future. Bellerbys students are also encouraged to start learning and adopting the skills that will be needed of a university student, such as referencing an essay or independent learning and carrying out research. All of my friends agree that the skills they learn at  Bellerbys are absolutely invaluable.

Another thing that I really like about Bellerbys is that it has an enormous ethnic diversity as it has students and staffs from all around the world, who hold different nationalities and speak different languages. Much to my delight, there is never a hint of any negativity in the way they communicate with each other. No one makes fun of other people’s English language skills  or the way they express themselves. I find it great how students from all different backgrounds will come together in the cafeteria, talking, laughing, sharing things with each other and, most fascinatingly, teaching each other words from their mother-tongue languages.

I love Bellerbys because it is a very dynamic and diverse community that is built on the solid bedrock of respect; hence, it is definitely one of the best environments for international students wishing to come to the United Kingdom.
