Being able to study with mature and friendly students is without a doubt one of the best privileges international students have. Studying at Bellerbys is a tough challenge but it can give you more than you have ever hoped for.

I'm Mickey, a former GCSE student at Bellerbys College Oxford, and I want to work in the microbial biotechnology industry. Bellerbys has guided me through my academic learning extremely well and deserves its global reputation for top class education and welfare. In these blog I will tell you more about why I think Bellerbys is the best choice for international students to study in the UK before progressing onto undergraduate studies.

Genuine reputation reinforced by ideology

I was once told that Bellerbys was a place for rich students who do not care about their academic achievement, and at first I believed it, until I really looked into the ideology of the college and disregarded the rumours.

I once considered other colleges at the top of league tables, who only select the elite candidates by academic grades. I cannot disagree more with the idea of judging a student by their grades, given that, in a lot of schools, memorising is the way to get top grades.  Whereas, at Bellerbys I have learned how to be independent and self-sufficient, I have matured in my critical thinking skills and developed a genuine passion. This has proved important when applying to British universities who set more than grades as their entry requirements.  To get into the most prestigious institutions you really need to find a way to “make yourself shine” and the skills you learn outside the classroom at Bellerbys come into their own here. This also fully explains why Bellerbys graduates have an outstanding university entrance record.

The ultimate rewards

After having studied at Bellerbys for just one year, I can say that when I returned to my hometown and looked up into the sky, I felt like I had just attended a boot camp. First of all, I felt happy - everyone at Bellerbys was happy to make friends because they too had arrived in a place that they did not know, and they also wanted to pursue their dreams.  Secondly, I had a growing feeling of individuality and I had never ever felt this way before. Thirdly I can now see the world my own way, interact with people in my way and most importantly, make myself unique!  As someone who has had their fair share of screw ups before, the clean slate of studying here really helped me find my comfort zone, and I can now freely pursue my desired career without being underestimated.

One of the biggest advantages of studying at Bellerbys is that the teaching quality is absolutely awesome.  Whilst this does result in better grades (that’s the boring part), the best part of it is that you get inspired by teachers that you truly respect.  Certainly, from my perspective this actually helped to shape my career path. Unlike in some schools, Bellerbys has trained professionals who can give advice about your future career, they don’t only ask what you want to do, but will advise you on the best pathway to achieve that.

What I have now is confidence, individuality, and a wide social circle of friends – dreams can come true! I have only one thing to add that I hope my readers are going to remember: It’s alright to be competitive, but don’t disregard Bellerbys, at least not for the wrong reason, because you will only embarrass yourself about how much you cannot see.
