Many people face this choice when it comes to the decision of which school to attend.

I have been here for over 2 years now and I went through the same process. Again and again; going to the colleges’ websites, comparing curriculums and choosing subjects.  Boy, that was tough.

I remember myself during summer before going to the UK. I was stressed with all the decision-making. Finally, I chose a state school. Well, I guess I should have researched deeper because I found myself  taking  subjects I didn’t really enjoy and no one spoke with me, as I was a new guy in the 12th year and everyone else had known each other since the first year. So I went back to a more careful process of choosing the right college.

When I first saw pictures of the Bellerbys College Cambridge campuses, they attracted me and I knew that I wanted to study there.  When I discovered that I could actually choose my subjects from the huge list on the website, I was 100 times happier. Even though, I hadn’t chosen my future career path at the time, the Centre Head and Program Managers met me with open arms, we talked and they advised me to start with the GCSE course, where I could concentrate on completely different subject areas, like Economics, IT, Sciences or Media. English language support was also provided (and at a very high quality!). Plus, they also gave me a hint: that by the end of the course I will at least have an idea of what I would like to do in future, and you know what? They were 100% right! Now I’m doing the Business Foundation Course in one of the best colleges in Cambridge and I really enjoy it, I know who I want to be, what university I want to go to and what degree I am going to specialise in. Big thanks to my teachers, who helped me with this process of choosing and applying.

Staff? The staff are great! Everyone knows each other; we can share a laugh during a lunch break, concentrate on serious topics inside the classroom and discuss current world or UK affairs between classes. And if we have any questions, our teachers encourage us to ask, even outside of college hours, we can easily email the question and have a reply soon after. It still amazes me how much care and attention we get from our teachers!

The atmosphere in college is very warm. Even after moving from Manor to Queens Campus to do another program I still keep in touch with my old friends as well as my new ones - we hang out every weekend. Almost everyone knows each other because so many activities are offered after school and on weekends, such as bus trips to cities around us, any sport you like (even if it is not offered, we can easily arrange it through our Student Representative Committee), field trips - there’s  so much to do!

With a stream of students coming in September, January, April we can’t wait to meet them, because it means more people are joining our family! If you choose Bellerbys College, you’ll definitely make a lot of memories and friends for life!
