My A Level Results Day

Since I had put the pen down on my final AS exam, the C3 Math paper, my mind had been on results day. I’d have done anything to escape this crazy wait and to fast forward time. August 15th seemed ages!!! However I guess I became used to the wait after all as I began to soak myself in all that summer time activity. Time did fly so fast I almost didn’t realize when it was finally a full week to D-day!!!

I woke up quite early that day after about 2 short hours of sleep! At least I’d done better than most of my mates who had stayed up the whole night. Twitter was rumbling with so many tweets with the trend #ResultsDay. The results were due at 9:00 GMT. Privileged to be in London, it was a hilarious sight as I saw so many college students on board the bus that morning as early as 7am with some visible eye bags as evidence of their agitation and anxiety!

The College Judgment Day (as I’d heard some classmates refer to this day) was indeed here. I was so nervous I couldn’t seem to do anything useful from the time I woke up until 9am. BBC first carried the news, stating the results this year showed the highest number of university places to be secured. That was good news!

In between buzzing phones, the noise of the TV and screams I could only imagine were from the students in the sixth form across the road, it was indeed a day of mixed feelings for me. It was nice to hear students voice out their opinions about this day. A random boy I met virtually screamed in my ears saying “I made it!!!” That certainly was hilarious! I gave him a high five which was well deserved! However it was impossible not to hear the wailing of the girl next door! I could only imagine how badly her results had gone!

Finally the long awaited day passed as quickly as it came. No matter how your results had gone bear in mind it isn’t the end of the world. If you smashed all your points, then a huge congratulations to you fellas! On the other hand, if you didn’t, remember that under every cloud there’s silver lining. Don’t give up!
