Nearly everyone in the UK and beyond has heard of the prestigious University of Cambridge -  the number one reason why Cambridge has become such a famous place all over the world today. Back in my country, I can even recall some local schools naming their institutions “Cambridge College” or something Cambridge-related just to recruit more students and promote their school, funnily enough people actually did take it very seriously.

I must say, however, that being in the environment and atmosphere of Cambridge University isn’t necessarily the only reason why you should pick Cambridge as your best location to study. There are a lot more reasons why you should come and study in Cambridge. Cambridge, located in East Anglia and about 50miles North from London, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to study and achieve those goals you have!

For this reason I have outlined 10 top reasons you should study in Cambridge:

  • I’ll start with the obvious and the most popular. Cambridge has one of the loveliest and peaceful atmospheres in Europe and it is especially student friendly. Home to the famous University of Cambridge, it’s a more reasonable idea to go to college in Cambridge if you intend on progressing to the university as this gives you the opportunity to become very familiar with the area and consider whether at all you really want to go to school in Cambridge. Furthermore, because of the high reputation of Cambridge as a whole, it would be a nice idea to also be one of those people “Who school in Cambridge”. People wouldn’t really ask if it’s even the University you know. They’ll just assume and say “wow!” :)
  • Music: It does unite the world, doesn’t it? Come to think of what would we have done if there was no music to dance to or listen to in our saddest moments? Life without music is so unthinkable! Well, that’s one huge reason to come to Cambridge. Yes, Cambridge may not be the home town of Beyoncé or Rihanna! But here in Cambridge you get to enjoy regular live performances from internationally renowned orchestras and artists. International students, this is a great chance for you as you might even get to meet musicians from your home country too! Here in Cambridge, having gigs to attend will not be a problem, what will be is choosing from the variety available! So you don’t have to worry about what you will be doing during your spare time!
  • Hello!! Its Cambridge here! And there’s the very popular River Cam which is the best place for punting in the whole of Europe! Sounds like fun doesn’t it?! So why don’t you grab your bags and come down here. You get to punt along the famous banks and take in the lovely natural scenery and ancient architecture. So if you’re a nature lover, Cambridge is the place for you to be! Yet another reason to study in Cambridge!
  • The Arts and Gallery:  Sorry nature lovers! You’re not the only ones getting the best of Cambridge :-p The beautiful and peaceful city of Cambridge has a collection of galleries which houses a range of art from contemporary and renaissance to the present day too! Just name it! Cambridge is also a good choice if you’re aiming to study Art in the university because there’s a lot to get inspiration from and also learn from.
  • Anyone ever heard of Kings College Chapel? Well, Cambridge is the home to the chapel that took over a century to build and dates back to 1446, in the era of King Henry VI. My dearly beloved History Lovers, doesn’t this sound like a great reason to study in Cambridge? Music lovers you’ll also be loving this too as this chapel has one of the most beautiful choirs in Europe which the BBC broadcasts every Christmas Eve in the festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. You can only imagine what a massive event this is!
  • There’s also the famous Fitzwilliam museum. Now I can tell you that it’s not every British city that has a museum in it! The Fitzwilliam museum is in the University of Cambridge and it houses a standard world class collection of sculpture and Art (yay more art!!!) and all ancient antiques dating back to even the pre-historic era. Plus it’s also a FREE-ENTRY MUSEUM!!!That’s another reason to study in the historic Cambridge city isn’t it? So why not pop over here with your suitcases and be a part of history itself.
  • In modern times, cinemas have taken over the beautiful royal theatres that once filled Europe especially those from the Shakespearean era. Well the great news is, not all the theatres have been overthrown yet! Cambridge still has a good number of the theatres which have a range of performances to offer both modern and old, student theatre and Broadway shows! You could also take part in one if you want and be a real world Glee star!
  • Cambridge is also a family friendly place. I have to say that not all places in Europe are very family friendly especially places with high crime rates and unclean environments! Well you don’t have to worry about such things here. Cambridge is generally one of the safest places to live in Britain and even after schooling you could choose to stay on and have a family here too or you could even succeed in convincing your family to move here along with you!
  • While the cost of living in Cambridge is higher than some smaller parts of the UK, such as Shoreham-by-Sea, it is lower than the cost of living in a big city such as London. I figure everyone wants to save some money don’t they?  Now you have a good reason to come to Cambridge knowing you wouldn’t be spending so much as you would have in London or Birmingham.
  • Finally, Cambridge has quite a number of shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, leisure centres and primarily all the key things you will need for living. I don’t see a reason to go anywhere else! But even if you do need to, Cambridge is just a little over an hour from London by train or car so you can always pop there once in a while if you want a taste of that bustling city life! As a fairly large city too, you’re bound to meet different types of people in Cambridge and hence you have a variety of friends to pick from!

Well now you have reached the end of my article dear readers, I hope you’re already making the calls now! Don’t miss out schooling in the prestigious and second largest city in Cambridgeshire! Come now and study in Cambridge!
